TUFC aim to help

This year, Torquay United AFC is joining forces with the Torbay Hospital League of Friends in a bid to make this Christmas more special for both the patients and staff.

Traditionally, the festive period is the time of year when the Club’s players and staff pay a visit to the hospital to spread some much-needed Christmas, however with the covid-19 pandemic continuing to make this impossible, United are delighted to have partnered up with the League of Friends to ensure that none of the patients or staff are forgotten about this year.

From December 1st, Torquay United will be launching an online Advent Calendar, with prizes on offer every day up until Christmas Eve to supporters purchasing a raffle ticket for just £5. Fans are welcome to purchase as many tickets as they like, with the more tickets purchased increasing their chances of winning and – more importantly – directly benefitting the patients and staff at Torbay Hospital, with all profits made being presented to the League of Friends for this specific purpose.

Originally set up last year, the Covid Emergency Appeal was set up to provide welcome relief to both the hospital’s staff and its patients, with many staff working long hours, and patients experiencing some of their loneliest moments, alone from their family and friends.

With a set target of £200 for each ward, all proceeds raised will go towards making life that little bit more bearable, by funding purchases for non-medical equipment, such as TVs, mobile phones or tablets, as well as other items, to help bring a smile to everyone’s face during this difficult period.
