Charity Bed Push

Posted on: 24th August 2025

On a very warm Bank Holiday Sunday members of the Torbay Hospital League of Friends set out on there annual bed push. Starting at the bus shelter opposite the Grand Hotel they walked along the sea front towards the Princess Theatre, then onwards across the inner marina bridge up to the end of the pier then back to a rest at the Off Shore Bar who made us very welcome as the do every year, we also called in to Harbour Gifts and Antiques who always support us.

Then after a rest it was back to the starting point for a change of some of the personnel.

The second pushes once again followed the same route.

It was a wonderful day with a great many people dropping coins into our collection buckets or availing themselves of our card machine.

Along the route we rattled our rattles, blow our whistles, banged our drum or called out on the megaphone, while some people came and asked who we were while others said what a wonderful job we were doing.

Thanks must go to our photographer Paul Levie and staff from Facilities at the Hospital for all there help.

Who can forget the site of Barney Bear all bandaged up ( thank you Warrington Ward) and Dave being run over by the bed and having to be help to his feet by a member of the public.

Thanks must go to all the pushers and collector’s all of whom are volunteers without them it would not been as successful

The amount raised is £1223.84
