THE FINAL PUSH

Posted on: 26th September 2016

The Final Push started on time on a bright Sunday morning, there were a lot of people around as it was August bank holiday weekend.

The Push would consist of pushing a hospital bed starting at the bus shelter opposite the Grand Hotel,  along the sea front, across the millennium bridge, down to Living Coast then around the marina and back along the sea front to the bus shelter where we would wait for the next run.

There were 3 runs, each one lasting 2 hours.   Members from the events committee were joined by President Pat Roberts (who completed the first and last run), Vice presidents Julia Hearne and Trevor Brown and Vice chairman Katheryn Westaway ( who did all 3 runs), and Chairman of the League Peter Welch.

On the runs various Doctors from the Intensive Care Unit, Rob Dyer Medical Director, Lesley Darke Director of Estates and Dawn Parker and Family also helped with the Push.

Everyone made lots noise while pushing the bed and holding out the buckets and we hoped that we would we beat our record figure.  Thankfully apart from the brake falling off the bed all went to plan.

Our sincere thanks go out to everyone one who helped us, but a Big Thank You must go to the people of Torbay who certainly came out to cheer us on as we collected £1219.!!
